The day I went to Botany Bay.

The sun shone on my face in my bedroom. I woke up and brushed my teeth. I wore my uniform and I ate my breakfast. I got ready to go to Botany Bay. My adventure was starting and this is what happened on my adventure : On Tuesday 24thof February, Stage 2 went to Botany Bay National Park ( including me! ) We left school at 9:20a.m. It took us 40 minutes for us to get there by bus.

When we came to Botany Bay, some of Botany Bay’s park rangers came and told us about the Aboriginal culture and their artifacts. They also told us what happened when an animal has passed away. Then we ate our recess. I had some biscuit.

First of all, we put our hats on and went bush walking. A park ranger called Shaun, told us about the Aboriginal fauna and foliage. Uh!Oh! There was some enemies wanting to attack us ( the fire ants! ) They were 5 centimetres long.

Next, we did some painting. We had to select a a leaf or a canvas tom paint on.
After that, we saw where Captain Cook landed in Botany Bya National Park.We also saw where Captain James Cook.

Then we went into a museum. We saw a diary of Captain James Cookand his crew.’ English before was really peculiar.’I thought.

Last but not least, we went back to school by bus at 3:00.

Finally, I went home to my family. HOME, SWEET, HOME.

Last Wednesday 19th March our school went to their swimming carnival by bus. The bus was crowded. Latter on at Roselands pools we grouped up into our houses and we warmed up for swimming. First we had free time, then we had age races. Soon after we ate recess then at 1.oo clock we had free time. Not long after we had activities such as bottle top scramble and frisbie etc. The people who wanted to buy from the canteen bought only some snacks. After that we had some more free time. We changed and then went back to school.

It was a great day.

Last week on Thursday it was circus day. We went to the circus skills presentation. It was amazing. The music was so loud my heart was drumming. After recess it was time to learn some fun skills. First we were split into groups. Our group started with the spinning plates with long special sticks. I was so scared that the plate would fall on my head. After some minutes we went jugging. It was pretty hard. I started getting the hang of it a bit. Then we went to the diablos. I tryed to do the chicken wing but oh no not me. If it was most fun time ever. Thank you! On Tuesday the 18th of March students of 4GJC went to the art gallery to see brilliant artwork of year 12. We went there to find fantastic artwork for the art show at our school. The artwork was so marvellous we didn’t even know which one to choose for the artshow. Every piece of art was made with a different type of material like lead pencils, crayons, oil pastels, textas, colour pencils etc. The best artwork we liked was the one made with crayons & paint. We had a great day! Thank you! By Maha and Sidra.

We should cull elephants because:

  • they are destroying forests
  • they are eating the vegetation and there is none left for other animals like giraffes

We should not cull elephants because:

  • it is cruel
  • people want to cull them just for their tusks
  • killing any living thing is not good
  • they will become extinct and no one else will be able to see them in the future.

In our class we are learning about energy. We created these flic flacs out of cardboard and elastic bands.

Energy from the stretched elastic bands is released and this makes the flic flacs jump.

On Tuesday 4th March 2008 a lady called Rosemary from Clean Up Australia came to our school to teach us about cleaning Australia.

We learnt about bins. Rubbish goes in the red bin, recycling goes in the yellow bin, garden waste goes in the green bin and leftovers go in the compost.

Rosemary showed us what cans look like when they are ready to go to the factory to be made into new things.

We enjoyed learning with Rosemary.
